Week 10 Practical

LECTURE

Week 10: In this week's lecture we covered introduction to Adobe After Effects, which is a powerful software used for 2.5D animation, visual effects, and motion graphics. After Effects is widely used in the post-production phase of creating films, TV shows, and web videos, allowing users to combine layers of video, images, and effects into cohesive scenes.

Key points include were:

  1. Motion Graphics and Animation: It enables storytelling through the manipulation of vector and raster art, integrating physical media like photographs and videos for dynamic creations.
  2. Pre-Compositing: Before animation in After Effects, still images and graphic elements are organized in Photoshop. Proper layer arrangement and naming ensure smooth integration into After Effects.
  3. Layer Compositing in After Effects: The software allows importing various elements (images, videos, vectors) and requires synchronization with platforms like Photoshop and Illustrator. Media files are linked rather than embedded.

The lecture also highlights examples of transforming static designs into motion graphics, showcasing the creative possibilities of combining Photoshop and After Effects in projects.

PRACTICAL

Week 10

This week, we focused on finalizing our poster by making precise adjustments to ensure it met the required standards. This process involved refining the composition, balancing the design elements, and to overall enhance the poster. Once the adjustments were complete, we prepared the final version for submission. Further we had to explore basic features of Adobe After Effect by doing a practice activity.

Final Poster

Summary

The poster is based the quote "Trust the Timing of Life" by blending imagery, typography, and illustrative elements. At the center, the butterfly with the vintage clock represents the change and inevitable growth of time. As the butterfly is a universal symbol of transformation, while the clock on black and white reinforces the wait for changes in life. The background being sunset over an ocean, evokes a sense of peace and hope for new opportunities in life. The use of boldness on words "TRUST" and "LIFE" in a warm, orange tone, emphasizing their importance and lastly the circular arrangement of the word "TIMING" around the clock draws attention to the cycle of life.

REFLECTION

This week was really productive and creative as I worked on finalizing my poster. It was all about making small but important changes as per the reviews given by the tutors and to get the composition aesthetic and attractive. These adjustments made a big difference, and I’m happy with how the final version turned out—it feels like all the effort paid off. I also got to explore a new application which was  Adobe After Effects. Learning the basics was pretty exciting, and it gave me a glimpse into how I could use it to add various transitions to my designs in the future. It’s definitely something I’d like to explore more in the upcoming assignments.
