INSTRUCTIONS

TASK

For Task 3, we were asked to create a design based on one of the 3 ideas proposed in Task 2. We had to include the design principles and develop it through color, composition, typography, and positioning. We also had to include label and title to the design. We also had to write a 200-word rationale explaining my design choices, meaning, and principles used. Weekly progress were to be included along with the feedbacks and the final reflection.

RECAP OF TASK 2 DESIGNS

CHOSEN ARTWORK

Rationale: From the previous sketches i chose the first design and added few more elements to make it more attractive and add more meaning to it. I added hypnotizing pattern to the glasses. This artwork represents a blend of human emotions and nature, creating a dreamlike effect throughout the design. The overlapping figures symbolize connection or unity, while the landscape within them reflects emotions with nature. The use of a monochromatic green color scheme gives a calm and mysterious atmosphere, enhancing the overall mood. The hypnotizing glasses add a unique and modern touch representing how they both are in deep thinking about something.

FINAL POSTER

Rationale (200 words):
Decisions Made in the Design
This final artwork “Lost in Dreams” is a digital collage exploring the topic of dreams. It is derived from Magdiel Lopez's artwork "Fault Vision". This artwork required a lot of decision making such as removing the background elements to make it more emphasized, creating double exposure, highlighting the glasses, adding text an also creating a theme. All these decisions got to an interesting change from bright colorful artwork to a completely different and emphasized art.

Meaning/Purpose of the Design
The design represents the connection between dreams and reality, showing how thoughts can trap us in a loop. The two figures symbolize people who are connected but also lost in their own thoughts. The landscape within them represents emotions, while the vibrant glasses suggest delusion. The overall message is to highlight the deep connection of dreams.

Design Principles Used
The composition is balanced as the figure composition is placed in the center attracting the viewer’s eye. Contrast and emphasis are used in the glowing glasses and hypnotic patterns to create focal points. Unity of color is applied throughout the design to make the artwork visually effective. Lastly typography helped emphasis on the overall theme.

FEEDBACKS

WEEK 5: I experimented with different moods in the artwork by adjusting its saturation. I also added vibrant colors to the glasses and incorporated text to enhance its meaning. I got the artwork reviewed by the tutor and he asked me to change the font type as it didnt go with the mood of the new artwork.

WEEK 6: I worked on the reviewes, changed the font type to sans serif and finalised the artwork with rationale and blog updates. I got the blog reviewed and was asked to follow the golden ratio and create multiple different samples for the final poster.

WEEK 7: I got 5 ideas of poster from which I chose 1 of the artwork. I got it reviewed by sir and he asked me to change the thickness of the font which i tried but i felt it looked a bit weird so i changed the font and did slight changes before finalizing the artwork.

REFLECTION

This project was really interesting and experimental as I played around with different moods by adjusting saturation, adding vibrant colors, and adding text to enhance meaning. Through this task, I learned how important it is to keep improving a design and how weekly feedbacks helps make it better and helps to understand the process further. Playing around with different elements highlighted on how small changes can completely change the mood and meaning of a design. Changing the font type based on feedback taught me how the design completely changes its feelings along with the changing font. I also learned about how to create a more balanced and visually pleasing design in Photoshop. Creating and comparing different poster ideas before choosing the final one helped me see the value of trying different approaches before making a decision. Writing the rationale made me think carefully about my design choices and how they fit with design principles. Overall, this project helped me understand color, composition, typography, and how important it is to keep improving a design.
