TASK
In this project, we were asked to continue developing the previous character from project 1 in realtime game engine. We had to create a clean retopologized low poly model, optimized UV map and baked texture map from high poly character using a new software called Maya.

REFLECTION
Through this project i understood the technical side of character creation for games and also got introduced to a new application called Maya which is very different from creating models only for visual presentation or just sculpting in Zbrush. This was very complicated as technical details had to be very accurate and one of the biggest challenge was learning the new software and baking texture took alot of trial and errors. This was really time consuming and required alot of patience but this also helped me understand the importance of retopology in Game Art. I learned how to reduce the poly count while still maintaining the character details. This helped me realize how crucial clean topology is for presentation. Working in Maya also improved my confidence with new tools and shortcuts, especially while manually retopologizing the character instead of relying on automatic methods. Another important learning was UV mapping and optimization. I learned how to lay out UVs properly to avoid overlapping, which is very important for texture quality in games. Baking texture maps from the high-poly model taught me how details can be transferred efficiently onto a low-poly model without losing visual quality. This helped me better understand how game assets are optimized for performance. Fixing UV and baking errors was frustrating at first, but they improved my problem solving skills. Through this process, I learned the value of problem-solving and attention to detail. Overall, this assignment helped me grow both technically and personally. It improved my understanding of game character better and taught me discipline, patience and adaptability.
